During the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2023, alongside bilateral activities in the United States, Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong met with Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apple.
At the meeting, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that Vietnam is a country that plays a special role in Apple’s business strategy.
Currently, several Apple products are manufactured in Vietnam, including MacBook, iPad, and Apple Watch, creating jobs for thousands of local workers.
Tim Cook also noted that Vietnam’s digital economy is growing rapidly. Many of the world’s leading electronics and technology companies, including those from the United States, have increasingly expanded their investment, manufacturing, and business operations in Vietnam. The country also has a highly skilled workforce of engineers and technology professionals.
Emphasizing that Vietnam and the United States have recently upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, President Vo Van Thuong stated that this presents a major opportunity for Apple to further expand its investment in Vietnam, particularly in the high-technology sector.
