Starting January 1, 2025, exit and entry verification stamps will officially no longer be placed on Vietnamese passports when Vietnamese citizens pass through seven international airport checkpoints, including:
- Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City)
- Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City)
- Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi)
- Da Nang International Airport (Da Nang)
- Cam Ranh International Airport (Khanh Hoa)
- Phu Quoc International Airport (Kien Giang)
- Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong)
- Lien Khuong International Airport (Lam Dong)
At these checkpoints, information about exit and entry procedures will be stored in the National Immigration Database, which serves as a replacement for the verification stamp on Vietnamese citizens’ passports.
For checkpoints that have not yet been connected to the National Immigration Database, or for foreign nationals, passport verification stamps will continue to be applied upon entry to or exit from Vietnam as before.
In addition, starting January 1, 2025, authorities will collect facial images and fingerprints of Vietnamese citizens at border checkpoints under the new regulations. This measure aims to enhance security and ensure the accuracy of information during the exit and entry process.

When using a Vietnamese passport to enter or exit Vietnam, you should keep or take a photo of your boarding pass and flight ticket as proof of your trip, in case verification is required later.
